Southern Caribbean Cruise October 2016

Hey Loves!

Welcome back to my blog! I know I have been away for a little over a month, but I’m back at it. Some craziness was going on! First my laptop was in critical condition, but after a trip to the Apple Store, Maxie (my computer) is back to life! Thank the Lord because she’s only two months old. Then I went on a weeklong vacay, which is the purpose of this post, and then work was crazy & I was having technical difficulties, but alas I have overcome and I’m ready to share! 🙂

As I said, I went on vacation and it was so fun. I went on a seven day cruise with my family– my parents, my grandma and my cousin. We were celebrating my parents 25th wedding anniversary and my graduation, and it was our first real vacation since 2011, so way overdue.

We left out of San Juan, Puerto Rico and cruised to St. Thomas, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, and St. Maarten. Seriously, they were some of the most beautiful places ever! I wish we had more time at each port. I’m not going to talk too much, I wanted to share some pictures. Enjoy! 🙂

St. Thomas, USVI

We did a tour of the island, followed by beach time. We had a great taxi driver named Simon who took us to the highest point of the island. The only scary thing was riding all the way up in a open vehicle. I’m tempted to put the video because it was so hilarious! We met a great group of people on our tour who we hooked back up with in St. Kitts. This was a gorgeous island, I think this was my second favorite.

The highest point in St. Thomas! 1,200 feet high!
I’m not a fan of banana flavored things, so I didn’t enjoy the drink, but it was super strong as there was a ton of rum in it. Islanders love rum!

Coki Beach

Barbados, West Indies

Barbados was hands down my favorite port. The water was basically turquoise. It was so so so gorgeous. We did a tour here too, and had another awesome taxi driver named Orlando. He was very down to earth and he loved his island. I swear all of my tan came from Barbados. It was HOT. Like, hotter than Vegas in July hot. I felt like I was cooking, but I want to go back there and stay at the Sandals resort. I feel like I could honeymoon there whenever I get married. Only flaw, the people were rude.

Rihanna’s new penthouse. We unfortunately didn’t get to see her old house.

This was the CLEAREST water I have ever seen in my entire life. It was sooooo beautiful.

Does this not look like a postcard?!

The BEST jerk chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. No exaggeration.

St. Lucia, Lesser Antilles

(my camera died so I didn’t get many pictures, but it was so beautiful)

St. Lucia was gorgeous!! We had the best tour guide, Angus and our driver Felix. They were the friendliest people we met the whole trip. I enjoyed all the brightly colored houses. My favorite part of the tour was riding by the college campus. I’m a stickler for education so that was cool to see a college campus in a different country and learn about their style of learning. I also loved the history and the culture of this island. This was the best tour because he told us everything about it. I would definitely go back there to stay as well.

Pigeon Island Beach. Yes, there were pigeons, but they were hardly noticeable.

St. Kitts, West Indies

We went to St. Kitts expecting the worst because of what some friends told us, but we were stunned by the beauty of this island. The rolling hills and mountains gave it a countryside feel. We were all toured out by this port, but our taxi driver William, who called himself the King, gave us some background on the island on the way to the beach. This was a place I could see myself living.

My  handwriting is a lot neater, but the marker and the angle I was writing made it look off!

St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles

I was least impressed with this island to be honest. We got off and headed for the beach right by the airport where you could see the planes landing right behind you. The planes flew like right over your head at the beach. It was really really cool. That was the highlight for me. The sand was rough, the beach was really crowded, and our taxi driver wasn’t that friendly, but he did wait for us to get done at the beach. It was okay, but I definitely wouldn’t be rushing to go back. The airplanes however were very cool.

This beach was right by the airport, I mean RIGHT by the airport. We got to see planes flying in right over our heads! It was the coolest thing ever. It is the main attraction of the beach.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

I saved San Juan for last because the last day is when we really got to explore the island. When we first arrived there, we dropped our bags off and went to this restaurant my best friend told me about, and it was so bomb!! When we returned to the port the last day, we toured the island before we left. We went to the rainforest and the old forts. Very cool experience. Only thing I wish is that we got to go to the beach there too.

I would fly to Puerto Rico just for this restaurant.
The BEST pina colada of life.
The BEST PAELLA OF LIFE. No, seriously.

I tried to use as little pictures as I could, but I have so many! I recorded the tours and sightseeing we did, but I figured I would share some pictures. I would definitely recommend this cruise. It was a good price, and there was only one day at sea out of seven so you didn’t feel trapped. The day at sea was cool because you also didn’t feel pressured to get off the ship super early and all of that. I would definitely do this cruise again in a heartbeat.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and this post! Stay tuned for more travel, although my next trip won’t be as elaborate as this!

Which island did you think was the most beautiful or interesting based on the pictures? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

Until next time,
